DeepL Pricing in 2026: Every Plan, Real Costs and Hidden Fees

DeepL Individual costs $8.74 a month billed annually, or $10.49 month to month. Team is $28.74 per user per month on the annual plan, or $34.49 monthly. Business is $57.49 per user per month annually, or $68.99 monthly. Enterprise is a custom quote. These are the United States prices on DeepL's pricing page, checked September 2026.

The annual Individual plan is the default for one person. Team is not a discount on that seat, it is a higher price for shared controls. The API is a second contract, and mixing the two is how a translation budget gets signed twice. People who paste text and upload files buy a per-seat subscription, while software that translates on its own buys a character-metered API.

Free is a personal cap, and the text can train models

The free plan is $0, and it is a personal check rather than a working allowance. You get 50,000 characters a month, 1 file translation, files up to 5 MB, 1 glossary with 5 entries per language pair, and 1 saved translation. A paragraph or a short clause fits, and a full document ends the month, so production work belongs on a paid seat.

DeepL's privacy policy says the free Translator and Write services process what you upload, and the translations, to train and improve its models, so free text is training data. Paid Translator Pro, API Pro, and Write Pro do the opposite: the text is kept only long enough to produce the result, then deleted, and it is not used to improve the service. Customer text, legal text, and anything under an NDA belongs on a paid plan even when the character count would fit on free.

Individual is the paid plan for one person

Individual is one seat, and billed annually it is $104.88 for the year. The monthly option is the higher sticker, and DeepL labels the annual gap as a 16% saving, so take the annual charge if you will still be translating next quarter. A 30-day trial is available if that account has not already used a DeepL trial, and cancelling before it ends means you pay nothing.

The seat includes 300,000 characters a month, 3 file translations, files up to 30 MB, full-page translation, 1 glossary with 5 entries, 1 saved translation, and a formal or informal tone control. That step up from the free cap suits a writer, a founder, or a support lead who drops in a document a few times a week. The glossary is the ceiling, because a product vocabulary does not fit. Voice time on the plan is only a sample.

Buy this when you are the only person translating, including when the text should not sit on free. Skip it when two people must share terms, because this seat cannot be shared.

Team is an admin product at a higher seat price

Team is priced per user, and administration starts at two users, so a solo buyer cannot open it for the shared settings. The annual invoice is $344.88 per user for the year, with a trial on the same terms as Individual. Checkout caps this package at 50 seats, and single sign-on appears only at 50 or more users, so a smaller company that needs SSO is already talking to sales.

Each user gets 1,000,000 characters a month, 20 file translations, files up to 30 MB, and bulk file translation, plus 5 glossaries with 1,000 entries per language pair, 5 shared style rule lists, and 10 saved translations. The shared glossary is why the seat costs more: a product vocabulary fits here and does not fit on Individual. Voice minutes per user are listed too, still as an inclusion rather than a Voice plan. File translations can be pooled, or an admin can give every member the same file count, and you cannot give one person a larger cap than the others.

The higher seat pays for the shared glossary, not for more characters. Five Individual annual plans cost less than five Team seats, and Individual is already a Pro plan, so this is not a privacy upgrade. Open Team when product names have to match across people, and upgrades apply immediately.

Ten Team seats on the annual plan are $3,448.80 for the year. If the job is drafting rather than translating, the AI writing tools list is the other bill.

Business is where unlimited starts, under fair use

Business has no trial in the checkout, so the first invoice is a real charge. The annual price is $689.88 per user for the year. It includes everything in Team, then lifts characters to unlimited, file translations to 100 a month, and the file size cap to 100 MB, which is the allowance for people who live in documents. It also lists unlimited glossaries, 20 shared style rule lists, and translation memory, and Write is included, which Individual and Team sell separately. The seat ceiling, the single sign-on threshold, and the Voice minutes match the lower plans.

Unlimited sits under a fair usage policy, and DeepL does not publish the number. Ask sales what that means for a weekly product catalog before you treat the seat as open-ended. Ten Business seats on the annual plan are $6,898.80 for the year. That comparison fits reviewers who are in the files all day, and it does not fit a script, because this seat does not include the API.

Enterprise is a quote once self-serve runs out

Enterprise has no public price, which is the signal that the self-serve seat cap leads to sales. It offers custom character and file limits, unlimited glossaries and style rules, translation memory, bring your own key, and 99.9% availability. Unlimited items still carry the fair-usage condition, and large-seat discounts are quoted case by case, so multiplying the Business seat will not predict the invoice.

Ask for Enterprise past the self-serve seat ceiling, or when procurement wants a key you control. Single sign-on on self-serve plans waits for that same headcount, so a smaller company that needs SSO on day one is already talking to sales.

Write Pro is an editing add-on, not a translation tier

The Write Pro add-on is $7.49 per user per month when billed annually, in the United States, and DeepL shows that price on Individual and Team. It is a writing assistant for clarity and tone on top of the translator seat. A trial of the add-on is available only while the DeepL Pro subscription itself is still in trial, so you cannot sample the editor after that window.

The add-on does not buy more characters, because the character cap, the file cap, and the glossary stay on the translator plan. Buy it when the same person who translates also rewrites the English before it goes out. The API is a second price list

Translator Pro does not include the API. DeepL's privacy policy still names a paid DeepL API Pro plan, while the US checkout prices other API packages beside it. Confirm the name on the invoice, because the checkout and the policy do not use one label.

API Growth is $32.50 a month, or $26 a month when billed annually ($312 for the year). The annual gap is 20%, wider than on the translator seats, and it covers only the subscription. Usage is $27.50 per million characters with no included allowance, so a busy month adds every character on top of that fee. Speech to text on that package is $1.85 per hour, and speech to speech is $3.75 per hour.

Cost control is on, and the package allows up to 10 active API keys. A developer package is $5.49 a month and $65.88 for the year, with no annual discount, at that same per-million rate, so it suits a side project rather than real traffic. API Enterprise shows no base fee in the checkout and uses the same character rate, so you negotiate the contract rather than a cheaper character.

API Free is $0, capped at 500,000 characters a month in DeepL's usage documentation. The privacy policy points it at the free-service rules, and DeepL still collects a card through Stripe to limit abuse. Paid API text is not kept to improve the service. Document uploads on API Free stop at that same character count per file on the common formats, while API Pro's published file cap is 1 million characters.

A person uploading a PDF should stay on a seat, and a product that translates on every request should be on the API meter. DeepL bills source text in Unicode code points, so "A", "Δ", and "深" each count as one, and a per-document minimum can bill more than a local count. The Google Translate record on Toolradar is the other engine next to this meter.

Included Voice minutes are not a Voice subscription

Individual, Team, and Business plans list 30 minutes of DeepL Voice per user each month, and that inclusion is not a Voice subscription. The US checkout lists Voice starter at $13 a month or $11 a month billed annually ($132 for the year), Voice meetings core at $25 a month or $21 a month billed annually ($252 for the year), and both Voice business and Voice meetings business at $38 a month or $32 a month billed annually ($384 for the year).

Meetings voice runs in Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet, with voice-to-voice in 30 languages and live subtitles in 40 or more, and conversations voice runs on device. DeepL says that audio is not stored after the session and is not used to train models. The API hourly rates are a third speech bill, separate from the included minutes and from these seats.

Buy a Voice seat when meetings are the product. Thirty minutes on a translator plan is a sample, and a team that lives in translated calls will burn it in a week. Recorded voices sit on the AI voice generators and AI dubbing tools lists, not on this seat.

What the same volume costs at Google and Microsoft

Each figure comes from that vendor's own page, checked September 2026. Google's figure is Cloud Translation neural machine translation, and Microsoft's figure is Azure Translator S1 standard text in US regions.

Google also charges $0.08 per page for NMT document translation of DOCX, PPT, and PDF, so a deck is a page bill. The translation LLM is $10 per million input characters plus $10 per million output characters. Microsoft charges $15 per million characters for S1 document translation and $40 per million for custom text. F0 is capped at 2 million characters per hour, and S1 at 40 million per hour, so a burst can hit the hourly ceiling before the monthly one.

Five million characters is a cheap API month and an impossible Individual month. Individual stops at its character cap, and Business can absorb that volume only under fair use, while the seat price does not fall when the characters do. Fees the sticker price leaves out

The sticker above is the US annual price. France and Germany show Individual at €7.49 a month billed annually (€8.99 month to month), Team at €24.99 per user (€29.99 monthly), and Business at €49.99 per user (€59.99 monthly), with VAT included, and the UK checkout showed the same euro amounts. A dollar figure pasted into a European purchase order is the wrong number, because VAT is already inside those stickers.

Annual billing is the cheaper interval on the three translator seats, at the 16% label DeepL prints. API Growth's annual gap is 20%. The developer API package has no annual discount. Business has no self-serve trial, and a trial, when it exists, is once per account.

Removed users keep the seat until the period ends. Adding a user charges immediately, with a pro-rata credit. PayPal is not accepted, while cards are, SEPA Direct Debit is available for euro accounts, and bank transfer is offered on some annual Team, Business, and Enterprise invoices in Japan and many European countries. Cancel from the subscription tab and the plan runs to the end of the cycle already paid.

Glossary size changes the plan before the character math does. Free and Individual stop at 5 entries per language pair, a short term list rather than a product vocabulary. Team jumps to 1,000, then Business lists unlimited entries under fair use. Style rule lists start at 5 on Team and move to 20 on Business, so count the entries before you multiply seats.

Which plan is worth paying for

For one person, pay annually for Individual, or stay on free if the text is not confidential and the free allowance is honestly enough. Move to Team when more than one person must share a glossary, not because the character allowance looks larger on a slide.

For a team that lives in documents, put Business only on the people who will use the file cap and the translation memory. A quiet teammate on that seat is the usual waste, because allowances are described per user. If you need single sign-on before the self-serve headcount, or a key you bring yourself, price Enterprise as a quote rather than as a multiple of the Business seat.

For a product, ignore the seats and price the API. The $27.50 per million characters is the line that moves, and Google's NMT rate and Microsoft's S1 rate are lower, which is why a team keeps DeepL for the pairs reviewers prefer and sends bulk strings to the cheaper meter. On Translator Pro, API Pro, and Write Pro, submitted text is stored only as long as needed to produce the result, then deleted, and it is not used to improve the service. How do I cancel DeepL?

Open the subscription tab in the DeepL account and cancel there. Access continues until the end of the period you already paid. Downgrades also wait until the period ends, while upgrades start immediately and unused payment is credited pro rata. A removed teammate keeps their seat until that same date. Trials for Individual and Team can be cancelled during the 30 days, and a trial is not offered again on an account that has already had one.
