Lead Generation for AI Products: What AI Buyers Spend and Which Tools They Pick

61.3% of 7,225 Technology respondents who answered Dupple's AI-tools question (5 Aug to 3 Nov 2026) pay for an AI tool. Spend, tools and offer fit.

Among the 7,225 Technology respondents who answered Dupple's question on AI (artificial intelligence) tools between 5 Aug and 3 Nov 2026, 61.3% pay for at least one AI tool. For a marketer at an AI product, that is a paying audience to test an offer on, not a measured budget. The respondents are new subscribers to any of Dupple's six newsletters, not AIpresso readers alone.

Dupple Lead Generation shows an offer to new subscribers after a short quiz, with click pricing (CPC, cost per click) or lead pricing (CPL, cost per lead). No CPC or CPL figure appears on the public page. Targeting has no AI option, so the figures below describe an audience and cannot filter one.

Quick answer

  • Pay rates range from 56.5% of all 28,509 answerers to 70.4% of the 7,590 founders and C-Suite answerers (5 Aug to 3 Nov 2026, 90 days).
  • The median monthly spend is $20 in every row of Table 1.
  • Claude Pro is the most picked paid tool among Technology respondents at 35.6%, while founders and C-Suite respondents pick ChatGPT Plus most, at 44.5%.
  • Across 53,591 offer-card views between 4 Oct and 3 Nov 2026, Technology respondents clicked 3,734 times, a 7.0% click rate.
  • Targeting has no AI option, but 582 of the 6,418 Technology and Engineering & Software Development respondents picked Founder, C-Suite or Director/VP at a company of 51 or more employees (5 Aug to 3 Nov 2026).

Table 1 counts 28,509 answers out of 130,964 respondents. Anyone who picked a paid tool counts as paying, spend is self-reported, and each share uses its own row as the base. Every row has more than 500 answerers. Dupple data, read 3 Nov 2026.

Budgets: what the spread shows

The median is the same in every row, so typical spend does not vary by segment. The 75th percentile is 40 dollars in each segment row, against 20 for all respondents. Those percentiles include people who spend nothing. This page uses no vendor price, so the band is data, not a price for any offer.

For subscription prices, see our AI subscription prices statistics page. Dupple's buyer guide on AI spend and tools covers the same answers from the advertiser side.

Which paid tool they already pick

Claude Pro leads among Technology respondents and in the engineering and Finance & Banking rows, while ChatGPT Plus leads among all respondents and among founders and C-Suite. The labels are the quiz's own, so they show reported use, not which product is better.

Our AI tools statistics page and AI chatbot review cover the wider market, and none of their figures is used here.

Offers that fit the spend

The Lead Generation page names offer types that fit, among them self-serve tools with email capture and AI guides. Two readings:

  • 38.7% of the 7,225 Technology respondents who answered the AI question pick no paid AI tool. A free self-serve tool with email capture does not assume a subscription.
  • 61.3% of the same 7,225 pay for at least one tool, and the page lists AI guides among the eBooks and guides it names.

Click rates for Technology respondents

The click rate for Technology respondents is 7.0%: 3,734 clicks on 53,591 card views from 7,808 people, 4 Oct to 3 Nov 2026 (30 days). Technology decision-makers clicked 6.7% of 16,732 views. Technology respondents recorded in the United States clicked 5.0% of 27,362 views, and Technology respondents recorded outside the United States clicked 9.1% of 26,217. Technology respondents in a data role clicked 6.9% of 3,445 views, from 501 people.

No click rate is split by AI answer, so these figures describe Technology respondents, not Table 1. Example target, not a forecast: 500 clicks at the printed 7.0% rate need 7,143 card views (500 divided by 0.070, rounded up).

How a campaign would be targeted

Rules filter on company size (6 options), role (14), job level (8) and industry (10). Country can be set in strict mode, which keeps an offer inside the chosen countries. Country is not a quiz answer, so this page does not say how an unknown country is handled. Device, the newsletter joined, weekdays on Eastern time in the United States and excluded email domains are further levers.

Across 130,965 quiz answers (5 Aug to 3 Nov 2026), 28.6% are decision-makers (audience profile). Decision-maker: a respondent who picked Founder, C-Suite or Director/VP as job level. For offers limited to targeted readers, a reader with no answer to a question cannot satisfy a rule that asks it. AIpresso has 28,000+ subscribers across its whole list, a list count and not a quiz answer.

There is no AI option in targeting, although the quiz asks about AI tools. Two example rules, where every condition must hold:

  • Rule A
    • Job level: Founder or C-Suite
    • Industry: any
  • Rule B
    • Industry: Technology
    • Role: Engineering & Software Development
    • Company size: 51-200, 201-1000 or 1000+

Dupple's data has no quiz count for founder and C-Suite respondents of every industry; Table 1 holds only their AI answers (7,590).

51+: a company of 51 or more employees (the quiz sizes 51-200, 201-1000 and 1000+). Rule B starts from the 6,418 Technology and Engineering & Software Development respondents, and its company-size condition narrows that group, so no count exists for the whole rule. Within the starting group, 40.6% are at 51+ companies, and 582 are decision-makers at 51+ (9.1%). Dupple's AI answers have no company-size split, so the 65.4% in Table 1 covers every size.

Country is known for 78.6% of the 28,402 Technology quiz respondents (5 Aug to 3 Nov 2026), and 42.7% of those with a known country are recorded in the United States.

How the flow works

A new subscriber joins one of the newsletters and answers a short quiz; an AI-product offer may then appear on the wall of offers, in the welcome email or in a follow-up sequence. The AI-tools question is part of the same quiz, and 21.8% of respondents answered it between 5 Aug and 3 Nov 2026. A click on an AI offer is interest in that offer, not a lead and not a request for a sales call; the lead definition for pay-per-lead offers is not published: ask us. The what counts as a lead guide shows how clicks and leads differ.

Limits

  • Self-reported spend. Respondents state their own monthly AI spend, and the data does not show whether an employer pays.
  • A minority answered. 28,509 of 130,964 respondents (21.8%) answered the AI question, so the AI shares describe them.
  • Percentiles include non-payers. The 75th percentile counts people who spend nothing.
  • Windows differ. AI answers cover 90 days and click rates cover 30 days, and no click rate is split by AI answer.
  • Thin rows. 21.4% of the 28,402 Technology quiz respondents have no country on record. The Technology data-role click row has 501 people, one above the 500 below which this page calls a row small.
  • No split by newsletter. Dupple publishes no breakdown of these answers by newsletter, so AIpresso readers cannot be separated out of the figures.

The about page covers the newsletter, and the editorial policy explains how pages like this one are written and corrected.

FAQ

Do most Technology respondents pay for an AI tool?

A majority do: 61.3% of the 7,225 who answered the AI question pick at least one paid tool. They chose to answer a newsletter quiz, so they are not a random sample of technology professionals.

Which paid AI tools do founders and C-Suite respondents name most?

ChatGPT Plus, at 44.5% of the 7,590 who answered, ahead of Claude Pro at 38.0%. Respondents could pick several tools, so the shares do not sum to 100%.

Can I target people by the AI tools they pay for?

No. The quiz asks about AI tools, but targeting covers role, job level, industry, company size and country, and no rule can select on the AI answer.

Which offer suits a reader who pays for no AI tool?

Dupple's data shows 38.7% of the 7,225 Technology respondents pick no paid AI tool. The data has no click rate by offer type, so it cannot rank self-serve tools with email capture against AI guides or trial signups.
