Ideogram Pricing 2026: Plans, Credits and Gotchas

Ideogram pricing in 2026: Plus is $20 a month or $15 billed yearly, Pro $60 or $42, Team $30 per user. What 2,400 credits buy and when Pro pays off.

Ideogram Pricing 2026: Plans, Credits and Gotchas

Ideogram Plus costs $20 a month, or $15 a month billed yearly ($180), for 2,400 priority credits. Pro is $60 a month or $42 billed yearly for 7,500 credits, and Team is $30 per user a month or $20 billed yearly for 3,600 credits per user, as listed on Ideogram's pricing page on October 17, 2026. A credit is worth one US cent when you buy it outside a plan, so every subscription is really a prepaid discount on credits.

Seen that way, the sticker price tells you little until you know which model and quality setting you will run, because a Medium image on Ideogram 4.5 costs twice what a Low one does. This page prices the plans in images, shows where the yearly discount and the Pro upgrade start to pay, and lists the rules that cost money after checkout. For the product verdict itself (text rendering, editing, weaknesses), read our Ideogram review.

Toolradar data: among the 171 tools in Toolradar's AI image generation ranking, 112 have a free plan, and the top 10 have a median cheapest paid plan of $12 a month, as of October 2026. Ideogram's cheapest plan now on sale sits above that median on either billing cycle. The product record is on Ideogram's Toolradar page.

How much does Ideogram cost per image?

A single image costs between 3 and 10 credits on Ideogram 4.5, which is 3 to 10 cents at the pay-as-you-go rate. Ideogram's credit table charges 3 credits for a Low image, 6 for Medium and 10 for High. Feeding the model your own source images at High quality jumps to 22 credits, while the Very Low setting with source images costs 0.8. Ideogram 4.0 at 2K mirrors the main 4.5 rates: 3 credits for Turbo, 6 for Balanced, 10 for Quality.

Older models are priced per batch of four. Ideogram 3.0 costs 12 credits for four Turbo images, 24 for Default and 36 for Quality, and an Upscale 1.0 pass is 6 credits for one image, on paid plans only. The app shows the cost on the run button before you start, so the number is never a surprise, only a budget question.

Here is what each monthly allowance buys on Ideogram 4.5, if every credit goes to new images:

Plan Low (3 credits) Medium (6 credits) High (10 credits)
Free, per week 10 5 3
Plus 800 400 240
Team, per user 1,200 600 360
Pro 2,500 1,250 750

Read that table as an upper bound. Edits, upscales and reference-image generations draw from the same balance, so a workflow that refines each picture twice spends credits faster than the image count suggests.

Is Ideogram free?

Yes, with two conditions that the plan card does not spell out. Ideogram's plans documentation says free accounts get 30 credits each week only if they sign in with Google, Apple or Microsoft. An account created with an email and password gets no free credits at all.

The second condition is visibility. Everything a free account generates is public, while Plus, Pro, Team and Enterprise keep new images private until you publish them. For a logo concept or a client mockup, that alone pushes you onto a paid plan. Thirty credits also buys only ten Low images a week, enough to judge whether Ideogram handles your lettering, not enough to run a project.

The pricing FAQ adds one more point: there are no discounts or free trials on the subscriptions. If you want more room before committing, the cheaper test is a small pay-as-you-go purchase, which starts at $5 on the Credits tab.

Plus is the private-images plan

Plus is the first plan where your images stay private and you can delete them, which is why most solo buyers end up here. The yearly rate works out to 0.625¢ per credit, against 1¢ when you buy credits loose, and monthly billing is 0.83¢. Both beat pay as you go, provided you use most of the allowance.

The other Plus feature that changes behavior is the unlimited slow queue. When the monthly priority credits run out, you keep generating with Ideogram's own models in a slower line, with no cap. Wait times depend on server load, and Ideogram publishes no target.

The slow queue does not cover everything. Custom models, partner models, reference-image generations, image edits and upscales still require credits after you hit zero. If your workflow leans on editing a picture until the text is right, the "unlimited" part of Plus helps less than the card suggests.

Pro pays off above about 850 Medium images a month

Pro is not a quality upgrade. It runs the same models as Plus and adds batch generation, the largest generation queue and up to 32 running or queued jobs, against 8 on Plus. The real reason to buy it is credit price: on yearly billing it works out to 0.56¢ per credit, the lowest rate a single user can buy on the menu, which matters only if you spend most of the allowance.

The break-even is easy to compute. Plus yearly plus top-up credits costs less than Pro yearly until you need 5,100 credits a month, the point where the yearly Plus fee and 2,700 extra credits ($27) together reach the yearly Pro price. At 6 credits per Medium image, that is about 850 images. On monthly billing, the $40 gap between the two plans buys 4,000 credits, so Pro only wins above 6,400 credits.

Pro also unlocks limited custom model training, a feature Plus does not include. If you only need a few hundred images a month, none of that justifies tripling the bill.

Team costs the same per credit as Pro, with a catch

Team costs $240 per user a year on yearly billing, and each member gets a separate monthly allowance. That is 0.56¢ per credit, the same rate as Pro yearly, and a two-person minimum puts the floor at $40 a month or $480 a year. The plan adds central billing and administration plus early access to collaboration features.

The catch is that credits sit with each member, not in a shared pool. A designer who burns through their allowance cannot borrow a colleague's unused balance, and members cannot buy extra credits themselves. The owner tops them up, 2,000 to 20,000 credits at a time, at 400 credits per $4. If one person does most of the generating, a single yearly Pro seat holds more credits than two Team seats for about the same money, so Team only makes sense when the work is genuinely split.

For a pooled organization balance, Ideogram points buyers to Enterprise Prepaid instead, which uses one shared wallet managed by owners and admins.

A worked cost scenario: 1,000 Medium images a month

Take a small online shop producing 1,000 product and ad images a month (the use case our AI product photography tools guide covers in depth) on Ideogram 4.5 at Medium quality. That is 6,000 credits. Here is the monthly bill on each route, from the prices on Ideogram's pricing page in October 2026:

Route Monthly cost How it adds up
Pay as you go, API or Pro monthly $60 6,000 credits at 1¢, 1,000 API images at $0.06, or the Pro allowance
Plus, yearly $51 Yearly Plus fee plus 3,600 extra credits ($36)
Plus, monthly $56 Monthly Plus fee plus the same extra credits ($36)
Pro, yearly $42 The allowance covers it, 1,500 credits spare

Pro yearly is the cheapest route at this volume, by $9 a month over Plus. The scenario flips at lower volume: at 300 Medium images (1,800 credits), Plus yearly covers everything and Pro would waste $27 a month. Count your real monthly output for one billing cycle before you commit to the annual plan.

The rules that cost money after checkout

Monthly credits expire. Unused plan credits do not roll over at renewal, so a light month is lost money. Yearly plans still receive credits month by month, not as one annual block.

Purchased credits last 365 days. Credits you buy are spent only after the monthly allowance runs out, and they expire a year after purchase. They survive a cancellation, so a lapsed subscriber can still use them until then.

Tax is extra. Ideogram's prices exclude tax, which is added at checkout based on your billing address. Payment runs through Stripe on cards only, and the pricing FAQ says PayPal and digital wallets are not available.

Pay as you go and a plan do not mix. Pay as you go is closed to accounts with an active subscription. To switch, you cancel and wait for the paid period to end.

The old $8 plan is gone. Ideogram no longer sells Basic, which was $8 a month or $7 billed yearly for 960 credits. Existing subscribers keep it, but new buyers start at Plus, so older price guides that quote $8 are out of date.

Upgrades are prorated. Moving from Plus to Pro charges only the difference for the unused part of your current period, so upgrading mid-month to finish a project does not double-bill.

How does Ideogram pricing compare with Midjourney and Leonardo?

Ideogram is cheaper than Midjourney at the point where privacy starts. Midjourney's plan comparison puts Stealth Mode, its private-images feature, only on Pro and Mega, from $48 a month billed yearly. Ideogram keeps new images private from the $15 yearly Plus plan. For a buyer whose work cannot sit in a public gallery, that is a $33 monthly gap on yearly billing.

Midjourney is stronger on unlimited volume. Its Standard plan, $30 a month or $24 yearly, includes unlimited Relax image generation, and Ideogram's slow queue does not cover edits or reference images. Our Midjourney pricing breakdown has the full GPU-hour math, and the Midjourney review covers image quality.

Leonardo competes on the entry price. Its pricing page lists Essential at $12 a month, or $10 billed yearly, and a free plan with 150 tokens a day. Leonardo meters tokens rather than credits, so the two allowances do not convert one to one. Compare them on the same twenty prompts before deciding.

If you already pay for ChatGPT, its built-in image generator is a fourth option worth comparing. Each vendor wins a different buyer. Ideogram suits work where the words in the image must be right, Midjourney suits high-volume art direction, and Leonardo suits buyers who want the lowest monthly entry. Our best AI image generators ranking covers the wider field, and the free AI image generators list covers the zero-dollar options. For logo work specifically, see the AI logo generators guide.

Which Ideogram plan should you buy?

Stay on Free if you only need to check whether Ideogram renders your words correctly. Sign in with Google, Apple or Microsoft, or you get nothing.

Buy Plus yearly if you make up to about 850 Medium images a month and need them private. At $180 a year it keeps your work private for $396 less than Midjourney's yearly Pro plan.

Buy Pro yearly above that volume, or when batch generation and a 32-job queue save you hours. Buy Team only when several people generate in roughly equal amounts and you need one invoice.

Skip the subscription if you call Ideogram from code. The API bills per image, $0.03 for Low and $0.10 for High on Ideogram 4.5, from the same credit wallet.

How we checked these prices

Louis Corneloup, founder of Dupple and Toolradar, prepared this breakdown for people choosing an Ideogram plan. We read Ideogram's pricing page, its API pricing page, its plans and credits documentation and its extra credits documentation on October 17, 2026. Midjourney and Leonardo figures come from their own pricing pages the same day. The per-image counts and the cost scenario are our arithmetic on those published rates. The 171-tool count comes from Toolradar's live AI image generation ranking that month. Publishing rules for this site are on the AIpresso about page.

FAQ

How much does Ideogram cost in 2026?

Plus is $20 a month or $15 a month billed yearly, Pro is $60 or $42, and Team is $30 per user, or $240 per user a year billed yearly, with a two-user minimum. Plus includes 2,400 credits a month, Pro 7,500 and Team 3,600 per user. Credits bought outside a plan cost one US cent each. Prices exclude tax and were read on Ideogram's pricing page in October 2026.

How many images do you get with Ideogram Plus?

Plus gives 2,400 credits a month. On Ideogram 4.5 that buys 800 Low images at 3 credits, 400 Medium images at 6 credits, or 240 High images at 10 credits. After the credits run out, Plus keeps generating with Ideogram's own models in a slower queue with no limit, but edits, upscales, reference images and partner models still need credits.

Do unused Ideogram credits roll over?

No. Monthly plan credits reset on each renewal date and unused ones are lost. Credits you buy on top of a plan are different: they are spent after the monthly allowance, last 365 days from purchase, and stay usable if you cancel the subscription.

Is Ideogram Pro worth it over Plus?

Only at volume. Pro yearly costs 0.56¢ per credit against 0.625¢ on Plus yearly, and it becomes the cheaper option once you need about 5,100 credits a month, roughly 850 Medium images. Below that, Plus plus occasional top-ups costs less. Pro also adds batch generation, the largest queue and up to 32 running jobs.

Can I use Ideogram images commercially on the free plan?

Ideogram's pricing FAQ says it does not claim ownership of generated images and that you can use them for any purpose, including commercial use, with details in its terms of service. The practical limit on Free is privacy: everything a free account makes is public, and you cannot delete images until you are on Plus or Pro.

Does Ideogram offer a free trial or discount?

No. Ideogram's pricing FAQ says it offers no discounts or free trials on subscription plans. The yearly billing option is the only price cut, up to 33% on Team. Free accounts that sign in with Google, Apple or Microsoft get 30 credits a week instead.

How much does the Ideogram API cost?

The API bills per generated image from the same wallet: $0.03 for a Low image on Ideogram 4.5, $0.06 for Medium and $0.10 for High, at 1K or 2K. High quality with source images is $0.22. Volume API discounts are an Enterprise feature, and pay-as-you-go accounts can buy credits from $5 without a subscription.
