Notion AI Pricing in 2026: What the Business Plan Buys You

Notion AI pricing in 2026: full AI needs the Business plan at $20 a member a month billed yearly or $24 monthly. Free and Plus get a trial, credits $10 per 1,000.

Notion AI Pricing in 2026: What the Business Plan Buys You

Notion AI costs $20 per member a month on the Business plan billed yearly, or $24 billed monthly, and that plan is the cheapest way to get it: Free and Plus users only get a limited trial. There is no separate AI add-on on the pricing page any more. Custom Agents, which run tasks on their own, are free to try and then $10 per 1,000 monthly Notion credits. Prices read on Notion's pricing page and help center on October 17, 2026.

The AI is not sold on its own, so the real question is what Business costs over Plus. Plus is half the Business price per member on yearly billing, so Notion AI for a team of ten is a $1,200-a-year step up on yearly billing, and the step also buys SAML SSO, private teamspaces and more integrations. This page covers each plan's AI allowance, the credit system behind Custom Agents and Workers, what the Enterprise tier changes for data retention, the refund window, and how to decide whether the AI premium pays for itself.

Free and Plus get a trial, not a plan

Notion's pricing page lists the AI line on Free and Plus as "Limited Trial" for every AI feature: Notion Agent, meeting notes, Enterprise Search and Research Mode. The help center phrases it as a limited number of complimentary AI responses so you can try the features, and Notion does not publish the exact count. Treat the trial as a demo, not a free tier: it ends, and when it ends the only way to keep using the AI is a Business seat.

That design is a change from the years when Notion AI was an add-on you could bolt onto any paid plan. The current pricing page has no such add-on; the AI line is folded into Business and Enterprise, and Notion's help center says plainly that Notion AI is available on those two plans. A Plus workspace that wants the AI therefore pays the full gap to Business for every member, not only for the people who will use the AI, because Notion bills per member per workspace.

Plus itself remains the right plan for a small team that wants Notion without the AI, at $12 a member monthly or 20% less on yearly billing, with unlimited blocks for the team, more guests and more automations than Free. The free plan is a personal tool with basic databases, forms and sites, and for one person it is still a complete product. Our best free AI note takers guide lists what you can get without paying.

Business is the AI plan, and the seat is the price

Business, billed yearly or at $24 monthly, is where Notion AI switches on. The plan includes Notion Agent, which Notion describes as completing complex, multi-step tasks using context from Notion, your connected apps and the web, plus chat, generation, database autofill and translation. It adds AI Meeting Notes, which transcribes meetings and writes a summary, Enterprise Search across connected tools in beta, and Research Mode in beta.

The yearly price is 20% lower than monthly, which is Notion's "save up to 20% with yearly" line applied to Business. For a team of ten, yearly Business is $2,400 a year against $2,880 on monthly billing, and the same ten seats on Plus would be $1,200 a year. The AI premium is $100 a member a year on yearly billing, and the non-AI features that come with it (SAML SSO, private teamspaces for sensitive pages, advanced page analytics) are the ones a growing company tends to need anyway, which is why the Business plan reads as the default for a team of more than a handful.

Where the per-member model hurts is a workspace with many light users. Notion counts every member as a paid seat, so a 40-person company with eight heavy AI users pays for 40 AI seats. The workaround Notion itself documents is guests: a guest invited to specific pages is not billed, up to the plan's guest limit, so contractors and occasional readers can stay off the member count. Adding a member mid-cycle is prorated; removing one takes effect at the next billing cycle and is not prorated.

Premium models, Custom Agents and Workers run on credits

Everything beyond the included AI usage runs on Notion credits, an add-on sold only to Business and Enterprise workspaces. The help center prices them at ten dollars per 1,000 credits on monthly billing and $13 per 1,000 on annual credits, and the pricing page repeats the monthly figure for Custom Agents, which were free to try until May 3, 2026 and are metered since. Credits pay for Custom Agents, Workers, premium AI models, custom-agent autofill in databases and any Notion AI use beyond the included allowance; basic autofill does not use credits.

Premium models are the quiet cost. A workspace owner or admin has to turn them on, and Notion says it charges tokens at each provider's published rates with no markup, so a team that routes its agents through a frontier model spends credits at that model's own price, and hand-offs between agents that use a premium model cost more for the same reason. Workers, Notion's automation runs, are free during the beta and are expected to cost about $0.0023 per run, which Notion translates to roughly 4,348 runs per 1,000 credits.

The practical consequence: budget credits as a second line item, not as part of the seat. An admin can watch the credits dashboard, and when the balance runs out agents pause rather than overspend. A ten-person team that burns 5,000 credits a month on Custom Agents adds $50 a month to its $200 monthly Business bill on yearly seats, and double that if the agents lean on premium models for every step.

Enterprise changes what happens to your data, not what the AI does

Enterprise has no published price. Its AI feature list matches Business, and the difference Notion prints on the pricing page is zero data retention: the LLM providers behind Notion AI keep nothing from Enterprise workspaces, where lower plans accept the providers' standard retention. For a legal, finance or healthcare team that is the whole reason to take the quote, since the models and features are the same as the Business seat.

The rest of Enterprise is the standard security bundle: audit log, SCIM provisioning, advanced permissions. Dupple's sister site covers the general plan ladder on Techpresso's Notion pricing page; this page stays on the AI question.

Refunds, trials and switching

Notion's refund policy is more generous than most AI vendors. A workspace that downgrades within 3 days of a monthly charge, or within 30 days of an annual charge, gets a full refund rather than a prorated one, and members added by accident are refundable within 3 days of the invoice if they are removed. Upgrades take effect immediately and start a new billing period, with the unused part of the old plan credited pro rata. Downgrades wait until the current cycle ends.

That 30-day window on yearly billing is the way to test Notion AI properly: buy Business yearly for the team, run a month of meeting notes and agents, and downgrade inside the window if the AI does not earn its seat. The limited trial on Free and Plus is too short for that judgement.

Is Notion AI worth the Business seat?

Pay for Business if your team already lives in Notion and holds its meetings on Zoom, Meet or Teams, because AI Meeting Notes replaces a separate note-taker subscription. The tools in our best AI meeting assistants guide charge per seat too, so a team that would otherwise buy one of them is paying the Notion premium for a note-taker that writes into the workspace it already uses. Pay for it too if you need SAML SSO, which has no cheaper path than Business. Teams comparing Notion with a project tool should read ClickUp vs Notion on our sister site, and the agent side of the product belongs with best AI agents.

Skip it if your team uses Notion as a lightweight wiki and already pays for a general assistant. ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini can draft and summarize Notion pages pasted into a chat for a flat monthly fee, and our ChatGPT pricing, Claude pricing and Gemini pricing pages carry those tiers. A team of two that wants AI inside Notion pays the Business price for two seats, which is less than a second assistant subscription. How we checked these prices

Louis Corneloup, founder of Dupple and Toolradar, wrote this breakdown. Plan prices and the AI feature grid come from Notion's pricing page, read on October 17, 2026 with the currency set to US dollars. Credit prices come from Notion's help articles What are Notion credits, Understand pricing for Workers and Notion AI FAQs; the refund rules from Change your Notion plan; the member and guest billing rules from How members impact billing. The 203 tool count is from Toolradar's live note taking apps ranking that month. More on how we publish is on the AIpresso about page.

FAQ

How much does Notion AI cost in 2026?

Notion AI is included in the Business plan at $20 per member a month billed yearly, or $24 billed monthly, and in Enterprise on a custom quote. Free and Plus users get a limited trial of the AI features only. Custom Agents and premium models run on Notion credits at $10 per 1,000 credits monthly or $13 per 1,000 on annual credits.

Is Notion AI free?

Only as a trial. The Free and Plus plans include a limited number of complimentary AI responses to try Notion Agent, meeting notes, Enterprise Search and Research Mode, and Notion does not publish the count. Ongoing use requires a Business or Enterprise seat.

Can I buy Notion AI as an add-on to the Plus plan?

No. The pricing page no longer lists an AI add-on; the AI features are part of the Business and Enterprise plans, and the help center states Notion AI is available on those two plans. A Plus workspace that wants the AI upgrades every member to Business.

What are Notion credits and what do they cost?

Credits are an add-on for Business and Enterprise workspaces that pay for Custom Agents, Workers, premium AI models and AI usage beyond the included allowance. They cost ten dollars per 1,000 credits on monthly billing and $13 per 1,000 on annual credits, and premium models consume them at each provider's published rate with no markup.

Does Notion AI train on my data, and what does Enterprise change?

Notion's pricing page lists zero data retention with its LLM providers as an Enterprise feature, which means the providers keep nothing from Enterprise workspaces. Business and lower plans do not carry that line. The AI features themselves are the same on Business and Enterprise.

Can I get a refund if Notion AI is not worth it?

Yes, inside a window. Notion refunds the full charge, not a prorated amount, if you downgrade within 3 days of a monthly payment or 30 days of an annual payment. Members added by mistake are refundable within 3 days of the invoice once removed.
