Krea AI Pricing 2026: Compute Units and Cost Per Image

Krea AI pricing in 2026: free 100 units a day, Basic $9 a month, Pro $35, Max $105, Business $200, about 40% less billed yearly. What a compute unit buys.

Krea AI Pricing 2026: Compute Units and Cost Per Image

Krea AI costs $0 on the free plan (100 compute units a day), $9 a month for Basic, $35 for Pro, $105 for Max and $200 for the Business team plan on monthly billing, or $5, $21, $63 and $160 a month billed yearly, as listed on Krea's pricing page on October 19, 2026. Pro on yearly billing is the plan most regular users should price first.

That opinion comes from one fact: every Krea plan is a pool of compute units, and the per-unit price stops falling at Pro. Max buys more units at the same rate, so you pay its premium for volume and unlimited relaxed generations, not for cheaper images. This page converts each tier into images and video clips, works out the cost per image, and explains why older guides misquote the Max plan. For the product verdict, model quality and the interface, read our Krea AI review; this page is about the bill.

Toolradar data: Krea's entry paid plan at $9 a month ranks #29 of 70 (joint) on price among image editing tools with a verified entry price, against a category median of $11 a month, per Krea AI's Toolradar page in October 2026. The ticket to start is cheap; the real spend depends on which models you run, as the sections below show.

Plan Monthly billing Billed yearly Compute units Unused units Key inclusions
Free $0 $0 100 a day Refill daily Limited models, no commercial license
Basic $9/mo $5/mo 5,000 a month Expire monthly Image models, selected video models, commercial license

What does a Krea compute unit buy?

A compute unit is Krea's single currency for every model it hosts, and each model burns units at its own rate. A cheap in-house model costs a few units per image while a premium third-party model costs dozens, so the same 20,000 units can mean several thousand pictures or a few hundred. Krea prints the conversion for every model in the comparison table on its pricing page, which is the most useful part of the page for budgeting.

Here is what Basic and Pro buy on a sample of popular models, using Krea's own estimates and the settings Krea states:

Model (settings per Krea) Free, per day Basic, per month Pro, per month
Krea 2 Turbo image 50 2,500 10,000
Krea 1 image about 18 about 900 about 3,600
Flux.1 Dev image about 30 about 1,500 about 6,000
Nano Banana 2 image, 1K Not included about 112 about 450
ChatGPT Image Not included about 27 about 111
Kling 3.0 video, 3s, standard, no audio Not included about 26 about 107
Veo 3.1 video, 4s, 720p, no audio Not included Not included about 33

The spread is the point. A designer who works mostly in Krea's own models gets thousands of images from Basic, while someone who wants Nano Banana 2 or ChatGPT Image for every render gets a few hundred from Pro. Before you pick a tier, decide which two or three models you will actually use and read their rows, not the headline unit count.

How much does one Krea image or video cost?

Divide the plan price by Krea's own generation counts and the cost per output falls out. These are our calculations on the prices and counts above:

  • Nano Banana 2 (1K) on Pro: about 7.8 cents an image billed monthly, about 4.7 cents billed yearly. Basic lands at the same rate on monthly billing (8 cents), so the cheapest plan is not a worse deal per image, only a smaller one.
  • Krea 1 on Pro: about 1 cent an image on monthly billing. Krea's in-house models are where the plans look cheap.
  • Kling 3.0 (3s clip) on Pro: about 33 cents a clip monthly, about 20 cents yearly.
  • Veo 3.1 (4s clip, 720p) on Pro: about $1.06 a clip monthly, about 64 cents yearly. Premium video drains a plan fast, so a Veo-heavy workflow outgrows Pro within a month.

Per 1,000 units, monthly billing costs $1.80 on Basic and $1.75 on Pro and Max. On yearly billing Pro and Max fall to $1.05, and Basic to about $1.00 at the plan-card price. Max does not discount the unit, it only sells more of them, which is why Pro yearly is the sensible default for one person.

Business is the expensive way to buy units: $2.50 per 1,000 on monthly billing and $2.00 billed yearly at the default 80k level. Teams pay that premium for shared pools, rollover and admin controls, covered below.

Should you pay monthly or yearly?

Yearly, if you will use Krea for most of the year. Krea advertises the yearly option as 40% off, and its plan cards say yearly billing saves $48 on Basic, $168 on Pro and $504 on Max compared with paying monthly for twelve months.

One inconsistency is worth knowing: the Basic plan card shows $5 a month billed yearly, while the comparison table lower on the same page shows $5.25. The difference is small, but check the figure at checkout before you commit to a year.

The case for monthly billing is the lack of rollover. Units on Basic, Pro and Max expire at the end of each billing cycle, so a buyer with one busy month a quarter can subscribe for that month, cancel, and avoid paying for idle allowance. Krea says plan changes take effect immediately with prorated billing, which makes that pattern practical.

Why do some guides say Krea Max costs $70?

Because several 2026 pricing guides still describe Max as a 40,000-unit plan at $70 a month. On October 19, 2026, Krea's pricing page prices Max at the rates in the table above for a default of 60,000 units, with a selector from 40k to 100k units. A third-party article built on the 40,000-unit figure is quoting an older configuration, so compare its unit count with the current default before trusting the price.

The rest of the lineup in those guides mostly still matches: Basic at $9 for 5,000 units, Pro for 20,000 units and Business at $200 for 80,000 shared units. Treat any Krea price older than a few months as a starting point, because Krea adjusts plans and model rates often as it adds new models.

Is Krea AI free?

Yes. The free plan gives 100 compute units a day with no credit card, refilled daily. On Krea's own estimates, that is about 50 Krea 2 Turbo images, about 18 Krea 1 images or 900 real-time generations a day, plus 1 LoRA training a day on up to 50 images.

The limits matter more than the allowance. Free has no commercial license, so anything you sell or deliver to a client needs Basic or above, and most premium third-party models are locked, as is every video model except LTX-2. It is a good way to judge Krea's real-time canvas and in-house models before paying, not a production plan.

What happens when you run out of compute units?

On Basic and Pro you stop generating until the next cycle, or you buy a compute pack. Krea sells one-time packs of 2,000, 5,000, 10,000, 24,000 and 50,000 units that apply instantly and expire after 90 days; their prices show only after you sign in, and Krea itself recommends upgrading the plan to get more units per dollar.

Max, Business and Enterprise add unlimited relaxed generations: once units run out, you keep generating on supported in-house image models at a slower pace. That is the real argument for Max over a stack of Pro top-ups. If you burn through 20,000 units every month mostly on Krea's own image models, the relaxed queue removes the hard stop.

Neither Basic nor Pro has that safety net, and unused units do not carry over, so size the plan to your typical month rather than your busiest one.

Is Krea Business worth it for a team?

Business is priced per workspace, not per seat, and that is its main selling point. One price covers up to 50 members, every member gets the full feature set, and adding people does not raise the bill. At the default level that is $200 a month or $160 billed yearly for 80k units shared across the team, with packs from 20k to 1.5M units a month.

Business also adds what solo plans lack: unused units roll over to the next billing period, admins can set per-member spending limits and see usage per person, and support moves to priority email. Krea's FAQ says rollover periods are customizable through sales.

For two or three heavy users, compare it with separate Pro seats first. Three yearly Pro subscriptions cost the same per month as one yearly Max and buy the same 60,000 units, which is cheaper than Business on raw units. Business pays off when the team is larger, usage is uneven between people, or the company needs rollover and spend controls.

How does Krea pricing compare with Midjourney and Leonardo?

Krea sells breadth: dozens of third-party image and video models behind one balance. Midjourney and Leonardo mostly sell their own models, with GPU time or tokens as the budget.

Plan (monthly billing) Price Allowance Unlimited slow generation Private by default
Krea Pro $35/mo 20,000 compute units No (Max and above) Not stated by Krea
Krea Max $105/mo 60,000 compute units Yes, in-house image models Not stated by Krea
Midjourney Standard $30/mo 15 hours of fast GPU time Images No (Pro and Mega)
Midjourney Pro $60/mo 30 hours of fast GPU time Images and SD video Yes
Leonardo Premium $30/mo 25,000 fast tokens Images, selected models Yes
Leonardo Ultimate $60/mo 60,000 fast tokens Images and video, selected models Yes

Prices read on Midjourney's plan comparison and Leonardo's pricing page on October 19, 2026.

On yearly billing, Midjourney prints its annual totals: Standard is $288 a year ($24 a month) and Pro $576 ($48 a month). Krea Pro billed yearly works out to $21 a month, slightly under Midjourney Standard, but Midjourney Standard includes unlimited Relax image generation and Krea Pro does not. For heavy image volume in one house style, Midjourney or Leonardo usually costs less; for access to Nano Banana, Kling, Veo, Flux and Seedance under one subscription, Krea has no direct match among these three.

Our Midjourney pricing and Leonardo AI pricing guides break down those plans in full, and Leonardo vs Midjourney compares the two head to head. For the wider field, see our best AI image generators ranking, Ideogram pricing for text-in-image work and Kling AI pricing if video is your main spend.

Which Krea plan should you buy?

Stay on Free while you are judging Krea's real-time canvas and in-house models, and only for personal work, since there is no commercial license.

Buy Basic if you need the commercial license and mostly run Krea's own models or Flux. A few hundred premium images a month fits too. Skip it for video: Seedance 2.5 and Veo are not included.

Buy Pro on yearly billing if you use premium image models or video regularly. It unlocks every video model at the same per-unit rate as Max.

Buy Max only if you exhaust Pro most months and lean on Krea's in-house image models, where the unlimited relaxed queue pays back. Buy Business for teams of four or more, or any team that needs rollover and per-member limits.

How we checked these prices

Louis Corneloup, founder of Dupple and Toolradar, prepared this guide for people choosing a Krea plan. Plan prices, unit allowances, generation counts per model, compute pack sizes, rollover and license terms come from Krea's pricing page and its FAQ on monthly and yearly billing, read on October 19, 2026. Midjourney and Leonardo figures come from their own pricing pages the same day. Cost per image, cost per clip and cost per 1,000 units are our arithmetic on those published numbers. The price rank is from Toolradar's live tool record that month. Publishing rules for this site are on the AIpresso about page.

FAQ

How much does Krea AI cost in 2026?

Krea AI has a free plan with 100 compute units a day. Basic costs $9 a month, Pro $35, Max $105 and Business $200 on monthly billing, or $5, $21, $63 and $160 a month billed yearly. Enterprise is a custom quote. Prices were read on Krea's pricing page on October 19, 2026.

What is a compute unit on Krea?

A compute unit is the single balance Krea charges for every model it hosts. Each model costs a different number of units per image or video, so 20,000 units on Pro buy about 10,000 Krea 2 Turbo images but only about 450 Nano Banana 2 images at 1K. Krea lists the conversion for every model on its pricing page.

Do Krea compute units roll over?

Not on Basic, Pro or Max: units are allocated monthly and expire at the end of each billing cycle. Business and Enterprise workspaces roll unused units over to the next period. One-time compute packs, sold in sizes from 2,000 to 50,000 units, expire 90 days after purchase.

Does the Krea free plan include a commercial license?

No. Krea's FAQ lists the commercial license on Basic, Pro, Max, Business and Enterprise, so the free plan is for personal experiments. Basic, the cheapest paid plan, is enough for client and commercial work.

Is Krea Pro worth it over Basic?

For video, yes. Basic includes only selected video models and leaves out Seedance 2.5 and Veo, while Pro unlocks every video model and the App Builder. For still images on Krea's own models, Basic costs about the same per unit on monthly billing, so upgrade only when you outgrow its 5,000 units.

Is Krea AI cheaper than Midjourney?

Per month, Krea Pro billed yearly ($21) is slightly cheaper than Midjourney Standard billed yearly ($24). Midjourney Standard, however, includes unlimited Relax image generation, which Krea reserves for Max and above. Heavy single-style image users usually spend less on Midjourney; users who want many third-party models in one place get more from Krea.

Why do some guides list Krea Max at $70?

Some guides still quote that price for a 40,000-unit Max. As of October 19, 2026, Krea's Max plan defaults to 60,000 units, adjustable from 40k to 100k, at $63 a month billed yearly or the monthly price in the plan table above. Those guides describe an older configuration, so check the unit count before comparing prices.
