Murf AI Pricing 2026: Plans and the Voice-Hours Catch
Murf AI pricing in 2026: Creator Lite is $29 a month or $228 a year for 2 hours of voice generation a month, Business Plus is $199. What the hours buy and lose.

Murf AI's Studio plans start at $29 a month for Creator Lite, or $228 a year, and run to $199 a month for Business Plus, with a free plan that gives 10 minutes of voice generation and no downloads. Every paid plan is one user, and what you buy is voice generation time: 2 hours a month on Creator Lite, 20 on Business Plus. Prices were read on Murf's pricing page on 17 October 2026.
The catch is the meter. Murf bills hours of generated speech, not downloads or characters, and the hours burn whenever you render new text. Unused time rolls forward one billing cycle and no further, a cancelled plan forfeits whatever is left, and Murf's own FAQ says payments are not refundable. The plan you pick is a bet on how many hours you will render, so this page prices the bet.
Toolradar data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, tracks 127 AI voice tools as of 17 October 2026. 71% of them are free, freemium or open source, and the median cheapest paid plan is $10.50 a month across the 40 that publish a price. Murf is listed there as an alternative to 19 other tools, fourth in the category, and its entry plan sits above that median.

Free is a listening test, not a free tier
The free plan gives everything in the Business plan for 10 minutes of voice generation, with no downloads and no commercial rights. Murf's FAQ says there is no time limit on it: you use it until the 10 minutes are gone. By Murf's own estimate, a 1,000-word English script consumes about 6 minutes, so the free allowance is roughly one script and a half, and the audio stays inside the browser.
That makes it a trial of the voices, not a way to publish for free. If you upgrade, the unused free minutes are added to your paid account as additional minutes, so there is no reason to burn them before buying. A creator who needs free audio they can actually export should read the free AI voice generators ranking instead; Murf is not on it for this reason.
Creator Lite and Plus: the solo plans
Creator Lite, the entry plan in the table, buys 2 hours of generation a month, 5 projects, all 200+ voices, unlimited downloads, a Canva integration and commercial rights. Creator Plus at $49 doubles the hours to 4 and raises the project cap to 30. Both are single-user plans, and the project cap is the limit people hit first: Murf's FAQ says that once you reach it you upgrade or delete projects to make room.
Commercial rights on Creator are for individuals. Murf's pricing FAQ tells a registered business to buy the Business plan, whose license is written for e-learning, training, product and marketing videos. A freelancer producing a client's explainer video is in a grey zone that the FAQ resolves toward Business, so budget the Business Lite price, not the Creator one, if the audio ships under a company name.
On the per-hour arithmetic, Creator Lite monthly is $14.50 per generated hour and Creator Plus is $12.25, our division of the plan price by its hours. A YouTuber who scripts 4,000 words a week renders about 24 minutes a week on Murf's estimate, or roughly 1.7 hours a month, which fits Lite with little slack for re-renders of edited text.
Business Lite and Plus: more hours, still one seat
Business Lite at $99 a month carries 8 hours and 50 projects; Business Plus, at the top price in the table, carries 20 hours and 200 projects. Both add the business license, an AI voice changer, a Google Slides integration and Murf voices inside Windows apps. Neither adds a second user: the pricing data lists one editor on every self-serve plan, and Murf's help center says editors can be added to a workspace only on Enterprise.
That single seat is the detail a training team misses. Two people producing course narration either share one login or pay twice, and a second Business Lite subscription is another $99 a month with its own separate hours. Per hour, Business Lite monthly is $12.38 and Business Plus is $9.95, so Plus is the cheaper buy once you render more than 8 hours a month, our arithmetic. A team of three needs the Enterprise conversation, which also happens to be where voice cloning lives.
Yearly billing is the real discount, and it changes the meter
Paying yearly for Creator Lite saves $120 against twelve monthly payments of the monthly rate; Creator Plus saves $192, Business Lite $396 and Business Plus $792, our multiplication of the monthly price by 12 against the yearly price. Murf's help center describes the yearly plans as a flat 33% off.
The bigger change is how the hours work. Yearly plans have no monthly limit, only a yearly one: Creator Lite yearly is 24 hours to use whenever you like, so a creator who records a course in one month and nothing the next does not waste allowance. Per hour, the yearly plans come to $9.50 on Creator Lite, $8.25 on Creator Plus and Business Lite, and $6.65 on Business Plus. The trade is cash up front and a plan Murf will not refund if the project is cancelled.
What voice generation time counts, and what it does not
Murf's help center defines voice generation time as the sum of generated speech length for every text block, consumed each time you render a new block or change its text. Changing the voice, style, pitch, speed, pauses, emphasis, pronunciation or volume on the same text costs nothing. The expensive habit is rewriting after rendering, because every edited block renders again against the meter; the cheap habit is finishing the script first and auditioning voices afterwards.
Rollover is one cycle. Remaining time at the end of a month moves to the next month, and the carried amount expires at the end of that one; yearly plans carry into the next year on the same rule. A failed payment loses the carried time. Pausing, which Murf allows for up to 30 days at no charge on monthly and yearly plans, keeps it; cancelling loses both the plan time and the carried time, and after the plan ends you can no longer render or download, though projects stay in the workspace until you delete them.
The API and Dub tabs are a different bill
Murf's pricing page opens on the API tab, and its figures are per character, not per hour. The free trial carries $10 of API credit with no card. Pay as you go charges $0.01 per 1,000 characters on the Falcon model built for real-time voice agents, $0.03 per 1,000 characters on Gen2 for studio-quality voiceover, $0.10 a minute for the voice changer and $0.02 per 1,000 characters for translation, with up to 5 concurrent requests, and purchased credit never expires. Enterprise API adds data residency, on-premise deployment and professional voice cloning by quote.
A developer never needs a Studio plan, and a Studio subscriber gets no API credit, so a company that wants both pays both meters. The Dub product is a third meter: a free trial with 200 credits and a watermarked export, then pay as you go at $1 per credit with a $5 minimum purchase, up to 10,000 credits. Murf publishes no fixed minutes-per-credit figure on that page, so quote the project before you buy credits.
Fees and limits that are not on the plan card
- No self-serve voice cloning. Murf's help center says it does not provide self-served voice cloning; a clone needs the Enterprise team and a dedicated account manager. The voice cloning tools ranking and our how to clone your voice guide cover the tools that sell it on a card.
- No refunds. The pricing FAQ says payments already made against monthly or annual subscriptions are not eligible for a refund, and the cancellation article only invites you to email if a renewal was recent.
- Transcription is its own allowance on the Business cards, counted separately from voice generation.
- Taxes are extra, with help pages for US sales tax, EU VAT, Australian GST and Canadian taxes.
- More time means a bigger plan or a repurchase. The help center's route to extra hours is upgrading Creator to Business, monthly to yearly, or contacting support to buy the same plan again; there is no printed top-up pack.
What a year costs against ElevenLabs
ElevenLabs, the tool most Murf buyers compare, meters characters: Starter is $6 a month for 30,000 credits at one credit per character, Creator is $22 for 121,000, and yearly billing charges 10 months, read on ElevenLabs' pricing page on 17 October 2026. The two meters do not convert cleanly, so the honest comparison is by job.
| Job | Murf, cheapest fit | ElevenLabs, cheapest fit |
|---|---|---|
| A few short commercial videos a month, one person | Creator Lite, billed yearly | Starter, $60 a year billed yearly |
| A course of roughly 10 hours of narration recorded in one quarter | Creator Lite yearly, 24 hours with no monthly cap | Creator or above, since 121,000 characters a month is a fraction of that script |
| A registered company producing training video | Business Lite, $792 a year | Scale at $299 a month if 3 people must share a workspace |
| A product that speaks through an API | Pay as you go from $0.01 per 1,000 characters | API tab, priced per character on top of a plan |
Murf's advantage is the yearly pool with no monthly reset and a lower entry price for a business license; ElevenLabs is cheaper for a solo creator with light use and sells cloning on a card. The full breakdown is in ElevenLabs pricing, the side-by-side on voices is the AI voice generators ranking, and if ElevenLabs is the benchmark you are trying to beat, cheaper ElevenLabs alternatives lines up the field by price.
Which Murf plan is worth paying for
Buy Creator Lite yearly if you render under 24 hours a year and your work is your own: it is the lowest per-hour price on the Creator ladder and the yearly pool forgives uneven months. Buy Creator Plus only for the 30-project cap, since the hours alone rarely justify the step for a solo creator. Buy Business Lite when the audio ships under a company name, because the license, not the hours, is what you are paying for. Buy Business Plus when you pass 8 rendered hours a month, where it becomes the cheaper per-hour plan. Go to Enterprise for a second editor or a cloned voice, since neither is sold on a card. Our Murf AI review covers the voices and the editor; the text-to-speech software ranking covers the meters across vendors.

How we checked these prices
Louis Corneloup, founder of Dupple and Toolradar, prepared this breakdown for people choosing a Murf plan. Studio, API and Dub prices come from Murf's pricing page and its plan data, the rules on voice generation time, rollover, pausing, cancellation and cloning from Murf's help center articles on voice generation time, carry forward, pausing, cancelling, editors and voice cloning, all read on 17 October 2026. ElevenLabs figures come from its pricing page the same day. Per-hour costs and yearly savings are our division and multiplication of the list prices. Toolradar figures are from its live AI voice category that day. Dupple runs no test lab, so nothing here reports hands-on results. Publishing rules sit on the AIpresso about page.
FAQ
How much does Murf AI cost in 2026?
Creator Lite is $29 a month or $228 a year for 2 hours of voice generation a month (24 a year on the yearly plan), Creator Plus is $49 or $396, Business Lite is $99 or $792 and Business Plus is $199 or $1,596 for 20 hours a month. Each is a single-user plan. Enterprise is a custom quote with unlimited generation, and the API is pay as you go from $0.01 per 1,000 characters.
Is Murf AI free?
There is a free plan with 10 minutes of voice generation, no downloads and no commercial rights, and no time limit on using it. It is a test of the voices rather than a free tier you can publish from. Unused free minutes carry into a paid plan as additional minutes if you upgrade.
What does voice generation time mean on Murf?
It is the total length of speech you render, counted every time you generate a new text block or change the text of one. Changing voice, pitch, speed, pauses or emphasis on the same text is free. Murf estimates a 1,000-word English script at about 6 minutes, so Creator Lite's 2 hours a month is roughly 20,000 words of new script.
Do unused Murf hours roll over?
Yes, for one cycle. Time left at the end of a month carries into the next month and expires at the end of it; yearly plans carry into the next year the same way. Carried time survives a pause of up to 30 days but is lost on cancellation or a failed payment, and yearly plans have no monthly cap at all.
Does Murf include voice cloning?
Not on the self-serve plans. Murf's help center says it does not provide self-served voice cloning; it is an Enterprise feature with a dedicated account manager, and the API lists professional voice cloning on its Enterprise tier. Creators who need a clone on a published price should compare tools that sell it on a card.
Is Murf cheaper than ElevenLabs?
For a solo creator with light use, no: ElevenLabs Starter is $6 a month against Murf's Creator Lite entry price. For a registered business or anyone recording a large project in a short burst, Murf's yearly plans can be the better value, since Creator Lite yearly pools 24 hours with no monthly reset and Business Lite carries a business license at $792 a year. The two meters, hours and characters, do not convert directly, so price your actual script on both.
