TL;DR

Copy.ai is worth it in 2026 for a small sales or marketing team that wants shared AI chat at a low price. The Chat plan costs $29 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly, and that one subscription covers 5 seats with unlimited words and OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models.

The catch is everything above chat. Workflows, the automation Copy.ai is now built around, start on Growth at $1,000 a month billed yearly, and the old $49 Starter plan and 2,000-word free tier that other reviews still quote are gone from the pricing page.

Copy.ai is no longer the short-form copy generator most people remember. It now sells itself as a go-to-market AI platform, and its price list has split in two: a cheap chat plan for small teams and workflow plans priced for sales and marketing departments.

This review reads every plan on the Copy.ai pricing page, checked in October 2026, and sets the product beside four tools buyers weigh it against.

For the whole category, our best AI writing tools ranking covers the field, and AI writing tools for small business focuses on lean teams.

Toolradar data: Copy.ai is listed as an alternative to 56 other tools on Toolradar, the software directory we run, which ranks it #3 of 138 AI writing tools for cross-shopping as of October 2026. Buyers keep it on their shortlist even as the product moves away from pure writing, so its real price matters for anyone comparing writers.

Methodology: prices were read on each vendor's own pricing page in October 2026, and the per-seat, per-credit and team totals are our arithmetic on those prices. We did not run Copy.ai ourselves; this is a plan and pricing review built on vendor pages.

What is Copy.ai?

Copy.ai is a browser platform for sales and marketing teams. Its homepage calls it "The First AI-Native GTM Platform" and lists Workflows, Actions, Agents, Tables, Chat, Infobase and Brand Voice as the building blocks. Chat is the part most buyers know: a shared assistant that lets each user pick models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini and Perplexity.

The center of the product is now workflow automation. A Workflow, in Copy.ai's own FAQ, is a set of AI actions stitched together to codify a process, such as writing an SEO article or building an account plan.

The homepage use cases follow that shift: prospecting, inbound lead processing, account-based marketing, translation and localization, and deal coaching. A buyer who only wants blog posts or ad copy is now paying for a platform aimed at sales pipelines.

Ownership changed too. Fullcast acquired Copy.ai, announced on October 15, 2025, to pair Fullcast's revenue planning software with Copy.ai's workflow engine. The announcement gave no pricing changes for existing customers, but expect new features to serve revenue operations first.

How Copy.ai works

On the Chat plan, a team of up to five shares one subscription. Each person writes in Chat, keeps work in unlimited chat projects, and switches between OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models without paying for three separate assistants. Words in Chat are unlimited, so there is no monthly counter to watch.

Workflows run on credits, and credits only exist on Growth and above. Copy.ai says a credit represents the computing power a workflow step needs, such as generating content, running internet research or scanning a website.

It also says the cost of a run depends on its complexity: more steps and more output use more credits. The pricing page gives no fixed price per run, so a team cannot forecast usage before it builds its first workflows.

Extra credits can be added later under what Copy.ai calls flexible, usage-based pricing, and self-serve users can upgrade or downgrade at any time. API access, bulk workflow runs and 20+ tech integrations are listed on the Enterprise plan, so a team that wants Copy.ai inside its CRM through the API should expect a sales conversation.

Copy.ai key features

Chat with model choiceEssential
Every plan includes unlimited words in Chat and access to OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models. One subscription replaces several single-model assistants for a small team.
Workflows and creditsEssential
Multi-step AI processes, such as research then draft then format, run on credits. Growth includes 20K a month, Expansion 45K and Scale 75K.
Infobase and Brand Voice
Copy.ai lists a company knowledge base and Brand Voice among its platform features. The pricing page does not tie either one to a plan, so ask before buying Chat for brand work.
Go-to-market use cases
Prebuilt directions for prospecting, inbound lead processing, account-based marketing and localization. They suit sales and revenue teams more than solo writers.
Security
The homepage lists SOC 2, GDPR and SSO. Enterprise adds what Copy.ai calls enterprise-grade security protocols and a designated account and support team.

Copy.ai pricing

Copy.ai publishes four self-serve prices and one quote on its pricing page, checked in October 2026. Chat is the only plan with monthly billing. Growth, Expansion and Scale are billed yearly, and Enterprise is custom.

Yearly Chat saves less than the label says. The page advertises 20% off for annual billing, but the real cut is 17%: $348 a year on monthly billing against the yearly total in the table, a $60 difference. Monthly billing is the safer start for a team still deciding, since the plan can be changed at any time.

The real story is the gap. Yearly Chat covers 5 people; Growth is $12,000 a year for 75 seats and 20K workflow credits a month, about 41 times more. A 10-person team that outgrows five chat seats has no published middle plan, so it either buys a second Chat plan or jumps to Growth.

The higher tiers get cheaper per credit as they grow. Growth works out to $0.05 per credit, Expansion to about $0.044 and Scale to $0.04, while the seat cost goes from about $13.33 per seat a month on Growth and Expansion to $15 on Scale. A team buying the bigger tiers is paying for credits, not seats.

For scale, Jasper Pro is $59 a month billed yearly for a single seat, and Claude Pro is $200 a year up front for one person. Five Claude Pro subscriptions on yearly billing cost more than three times the yearly Chat plan.

Copy.ai pros and cons

What we like

  • Chat includes 5 seats, so a small team shares one subscription instead of paying per person.
  • Unlimited words in Chat and unlimited chat projects leave no monthly counter to manage.
  • One plan gives access to OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models side by side.

What could be better

  • Workflows need Growth, which costs about 41 times the yearly Chat plan, with no middle tier.
  • Copy.ai publishes no per-run credit cost, so workflow budgets are hard to forecast.
  • API access and 20+ integrations sit on the quote-only Enterprise plan.

Who Copy.ai is for

Buy Chat if two to five people want a shared AI assistant with model choice. At the yearly rate, five seats cost less than one Claude Pro subscription per person, and unlimited words remove the usage anxiety of credit-based writers. A small agency, a startup marketing team or a sales pod drafting emails all fit.

Talk to Copy.ai about Growth only if you have repeatable processes to automate across a large team. At $12,000 a year, Growth pays off when dozens of reps or marketers run the same research, prospecting or content workflows every week.

Ask for an estimate of credits per run on your real workflow before signing, because the FAQ ties cost to workflow complexity and publishes no per-run figure.

Skip Copy.ai if you are a solo writer or need strong brand controls on a small budget. One person pays for five seats they will not use, and Brand Voice is not tied to a plan on the pricing page.

A single marketer gets explicit Brand Voice limits on Jasper Pro, and a writer who wants the best drafting and editing per dollar is better served by Claude Pro.

The bottom line

Copy.ai is a strong buy in 2026 for a team of two to five that wants a shared assistant with model choice at a low price.

Start on Chat monthly, and move to yearly only once the whole team uses it every week. Treat Growth as a separate purchase: it is an automation platform for large sales and marketing teams, and its value depends on workflows you have not built yet.

Choose Jasper when one marketer needs firm brand controls, Claude when one writer wants the best drafts per dollar, Rytr for short copy on a tight budget, and Writesonic when AI search visibility is the goal.

Frequently asked questions

Is Copy.ai worth it in 2026?

Yes for a team of two to five that wants shared AI chat: the Chat plan covers 5 seats with unlimited words and three model vendors. It is poor value for one person, who pays for unused seats, and Growth only makes sense for large teams automating repeatable workflows.

How much does Copy.ai cost?

Chat costs $29 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly ($288 a year), for 5 seats. Growth is $1,000 a month billed yearly, Expansion $2,000 and Scale $3,000, each billed annually. Enterprise is a custom quote. Prices were checked on Copy.ai's pricing page in October 2026.

Does Copy.ai still have a free plan?

The current pricing page lists no free plan and no free trial. Older reviews still quote a free tier with 2,000 words a month and a $49 Starter plan, but neither appears on the page as of October 2026, so treat those figures as out of date.

What are Copy.ai workflow credits?

Credits pay for Workflows, the multi-step AI processes on Growth, Expansion and Scale. Copy.ai says a run's cost depends on how many steps and how much content it generates, and it publishes no fixed price per run. Growth includes 20K credits a month, which works out to $0.05 per credit.

Copy.ai vs Jasper: which is cheaper for a team?

Copy.ai, by a wide margin. Its yearly Chat plan covers 5 seats for $288 a year, while Jasper Pro is a single seat at $708 a year on yearly billing and any second user needs a Business quote. Jasper gives one marketer firmer Brand Voice limits in exchange.
