Writesonic Review 2026
What Writesonic's three self-serve plans cost now that it sells AI search visibility tracking, what each tier tracks, and who should buy a cheaper tool.
Writesonic is worth it in 2026 for a marketing team that wants to see and improve how ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews mention its brand, with AI articles and site audits in the same plan. Starter costs $79 a month billed annually or $99 month to month, and tracks 50 prompts a day.
It is no longer a cheap AI writer. A writer who only needs drafts pays a fraction of that on a chat tool, and a team that only needs tracking can buy more prompts per dollar from a dedicated tracker such as Otterly.AI.

Writesonic built its name as a low-cost AI writer, and buyers still shortlist it for that reason. The product it sells in 2026 is different: an AI search visibility platform that tracks how answer engines talk about your brand, then gives you an article writer, site audits and AI agents to change the answer.
This review reads every plan on the Writesonic pricing page, checked on 18 October 2026, and sets it beside four tools buyers weigh it against.
For writing tools across the board, our best AI writing tools ranking covers the field, and free AI writing tools covers the no-cost options.
Toolradar data: Writesonic is listed as an alternative to 47 other tools on Toolradar, the software directory we run, ranking #4 of 138 AI writing tools for cross-shopping as of October 2026. Buyers still compare it with writers, which is exactly why its move into visibility tracking catches people out at checkout.
Methodology: every price was read on each vendor's own pricing page in October 2026, and the yearly, per-prompt and team totals are our arithmetic on those published prices. We did not run Writesonic ourselves; this is a plan and pricing review built on vendor pages.
What is Writesonic?
Writesonic is a browser platform for what the industry now calls GEO, generative engine optimization: getting a brand cited and recommended in AI answers. It runs a fixed set of prompts, the questions your buyers might ask, through ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews every day and records whether and how your brand shows up.
The writer is now the second half of the product. The self-serve plans bundle an AI article writer, content optimization, brand writing styles and site audits that check pages for both AI and classic SEO problems.
Agentic workflows, AI agents that run SEO and content tasks for you, are included as a limited number of trial runs on every self-serve plan.
Enterprise lifts the limits that matter most to a large brand: tracking across all 9 AI platforms Writesonic covers instead of 3, custom prompts by region and language, the full Action Center, SSO with SAML, and SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA and GDPR compliance with a dedicated AI search strategist.
How Writesonic works
You sign up without a card, set up one project for your brand, and choose the prompts to track. Each day Writesonic runs them through the covered answer engines and logs the results, so the dashboard shows which questions mention you, which mention a competitor and which sources the engines cite. You then use the article writer and site audits to close the gaps.
Prompts and answers are separate meters. Starter tracks 50 prompts and 50 answers a day, while Basic tracks 100 prompts and 300 answers, and Growth 200 prompts and 600 answers.
On annual billing that puts Starter at about $1.58 per tracked answer a month and Basic at about $0.66, so the step up buys much more coverage than the prompt count alone suggests.
Sentiment analysis, which tells you whether a mention is positive or negative, starts on Growth, and the Action Center that turns findings into on-page and off-page tasks is a trial of 5 of each a month on Growth and full only on Enterprise.
A team that wants Writesonic to tell it what to fix, not only what is wrong, should price Growth from the start.
Writesonic key features
Writesonic pricing
Writesonic publishes three self-serve plans and an Enterprise quote on its Writesonic pricing page, read on 18 October 2026. Annual billing saves 20% and is paid for 12 months up front, and the table below shows both the annual and the month-to-month price for each tier.
The yearly commitment is the real price decision. Annual Starter comes to $948 for the year, Basic to $2,388 and Growth to $4,788. Monthly billing costs $240, $600 and $1,200 more a year respectively, which buys the right to stop after one month if the tracking does not change how you work.
Downgrades and cancellations take effect at the next billing cycle, and Writesonic offers a 7-day, no-questions-asked refund.
Team size moves the bill too. Starter is one user with no extra seats, Basic includes 2 users and Growth 3, and both can add seats at $50 a month each up to 5 users. Five people on annual Basic cost $349 a month, and five on annual Growth cost $499 a month, our arithmetic on the published seat price.
Against dedicated trackers the bundle looks expensive. Otterly.AI tracks 100 prompts across 4 AI engines for $189 a month, with unlimited team members, while Writesonic Basic tracks the same 100 prompts on 3 engines for $249 a month.
The difference is that Writesonic adds 25 articles and 20 site audits a month, so a team that would buy a writer anyway can justify it.

Who Writesonic is for
Buy Writesonic if your team is already asked how the brand shows up in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, and you also publish content every month. The bundle pays off when the same people track visibility and write the pages that fix it, because the article writer and audits are paid for inside the plan.
Start on Basic rather than Starter if you track more than a handful of topics. Starter's single user and 50 daily answers suit a founder checking one brand. Basic triples the answer count for each prompt and adds a second seat, which is the realistic floor for a small marketing team.
Skip Writesonic if you only need drafts or only need tracking. A writer who wants AI help with blog posts pays far less on a chat plan such as Copy.ai Chat. A team that only needs to monitor mentions gets more engines per dollar and unlimited seats on Otterly.AI.
A large brand that needs every answer engine covered should compare Writesonic Enterprise with a Profound quote.

The bottom line
Writesonic is the right buy in 2026 for a marketing team that needs to measure its brand in AI answers and will use the bundled article writer and audits to act on what it finds.
Start on annual Basic if two people will use it, and only take Growth once you need sentiment analysis or the Action Center. Pay monthly for the first month if you are unsure, since the yearly plan locks in 12 months up front.
Choose Otterly.AI when tracking alone is the job and a large team needs seats.
Choose Jasper or Copy.ai when the work is writing, not measurement, and Profound when an enterprise needs every engine covered.
